About The Guild
Dora Care, who taught many of our members to weave, formed the Guild in1982.
Guild members like to carry on the tradition of encouraging others to take up these fascinating crafts.
We continue to develop our skills with a range of talks, visits, courses and workshops. We received funding from The Big Lottery and The Laura Ashley Foundation which enabled us to run Weaving and Spinning Courses for beginners.

Looms, spinning wheels and other equipment are available for use at the centre.

The objectives of the Guild are:

-
to encourage and preserve the practice of and interest in weaving, spinning, dyeing and associated textile crafts (“the craft”)
-
to encourage and maintain integrity and excellence of craftsmanship
-
to foster a sense of beauty of material, texture, colour and design
-
to provide opportunities for the practice of and education in the craft and in particular to provide workshops, tuition, lectures, demonstrations and library facilities
